Autumn and Winter events for your diary




Please find below all the online events and chats we are holding over the next couple of months.

If you want to share ideas, talk to other SEND Parents/carers or just see a different face then please get in touch and we will email you the link to join in. You are welcome to join in on any one, or all of them if you prefer, just simply email the coordinator responsible for that date and they will send you the zoom login details.

All our events listed below are free to FVS members unless otherwise stated. Plus our membership is free to join.

February


2nd February (Wednesday 10.00am) 'General Chat'

Join Shannon our Elmbridge coordinator for a coffee and a chat at 10am. Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the Month.

7th February (Monday 6.30pm) '16+ Group'

Our 16+ group is for parent carers of young people age 16-25 with additional needs. The group meets monthly via Zoom on a Monday evening from 6.30pm – 8.00pm, to share experiences, exchange tips and advice, and to hear from expert speakers. There’s also a private WhatsApp group for day-to-day chat. The FVS co-hosts for the group are Gretta Schifano & Lucy Young. This will be a general chat session, with no expert speaker.

9th February (Wednesday 11.00am) 'School Anxiety Chat'

Do you have a child or young person who struggles with attending school or college? If so you may like to join our friendly support group.

There is a WhatsApp group for day-to-day chat and we also have regular Zoom catch-ups - currently on the second Wednesday of each month at 11am.

11th February (Friday 10.00am) 'FB Live Benedicte chats with Gardening for Wellbeing'

11th February (Friday 12.00pm) 'PDA Group chat'

Join Di (Woking coordinator) and Sara (Waverley coordinator) and other parent carers online for a chat. This will be an introduction to E|D|G|E, a specialist supported employment service and person centred organisation who can arrange alternative provision and education reengagement.

They are a trio of highly motivated professionals with years of experience helping those with Autism, Learning Disabilities, Sensory Disabilities, Mental Health and Physical Disabilities across Surrey.

Becky and Jen will do a short presentation on their work within Surrey.

18th February (Friday 10.00am) 'FB Live - Self Evaluation Framework Introduction

(this talk is prerecorded)'

Julia and Mary will be joining Benedicte to talk about a co-productive project to examine Surrey's SEND system and how families experience it. This is expected to be an ongoing conversation of "self-evaluation" that can then inform changes in services.

22nd February (Tuesday 10.00am) 'Restrictive Food Intake Group'

This is a group for those who’s children suffer with Restrictive food intake for whatever reason, AFRID, ASD, Allergies, poor swallow etc.

22nd February (Tuesday 1.00pm) 'ADHD/Autism Group'

Recently formed ADHD/Autism online chat group for parent carers of children and young people with neurodiverse conditions. The group meets monthly via Zoom on a Tuesday from 1pm so come along and join in. The FVS co-hosts for the group are Sara Draycott (Waverley FVS Coordinator) and Diana Phillips (Woking FVS Coordinator).

23rd February (Wednesday 11.00am) 'Global Developmental Delay - General chat'

Join Emily, our Runnymede Coordinator on Zoom to share thoughts, experiences or stories about Global Developmental Delay (GDD).

Emily has a young daughter with GDD and is keen to create a local network to connect with other families. This is a friendly general chat group for tea and a natter. Please stay for as long as you like, contribute or just listen.

23rd February (Wednesday 1.00pm) 'Discussion on respite for unpaid carers'

What is this event about? Come along and join in the conversation with 'The Charity Crossroads Care Surrey',(Home Page - Crossroads Care Surrey) they provide respite for unpaid carers. Listen in and/or ask questions about the free services that they offer.

24th February (Thursday 6.30pm) '19+ chat group'

Our 19+ online chat group is for parent carers of young people age 19-25 with additional needs. The group meets monthly via Zoom on a Thursday evening from 6.30pm – 8.00pm, to discuss issues such as supported living, training, employment, meaningful activities, friendships, support buddies and transitions to adult services for young people.

The FVS co-hosts for the group are Gretta Schifano & Lucy Young.

25th February (Friday 11.00am) 'Group for Parent Carers with children aged 0-6 with additional needs'
